Inspire & Influence

Dorri Thyden uses vibrant colors to paint landscapes of the Earth and Derede McAlpin uses them in portraits to reflect prominent, and not so prominent, figures and circumstances that shape landscapes of ones life. These two dynamic artists have joined together for a joint exhibition, Inspire & Influence at the Touchstone Gallery, 406 7th Street, NW that opens today, June 10 and runs through July 4.

“I enjoy creating paintings that aim to lift moods and wash away the complexities of life, says Dorri Thyden. In her contribution to the exhibit, “Inspire”, Dorri uses colorful, flowing images of flowers and cacti through a spectrum of colors to portray fluidity and ease. The feature painting of the “Influence” portion of the exhibit by Derede McAlpin is “POVERTY vs. PRIVILEGE” which portrays the impact of wealth and justice.

Touchstone Gallery is open Wednesday – Friday from 11:00am to 5:00pm and Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon to 5:00pm. Visit this exhibit and be influenced to inspire.
