The Man, The Myth, The Movie About the Mayor for Life

ME-BarryTaxHe is the most iconic figure in District politics. Despite being shot in a terrorist attack, a drug conviction, tax problems, ailing health and a myriad of salacious tales over his 40 years in local politics he is still loved by many and called DC’s mayor for life by some.  

An audience will have an opportunity to look into the life of Marion Barry at the screening of the new documentary The Nine Lives of Marion Barry Saturday June 20 at 6:30pm as part of the SILVERDOCS film festival. Post-screening discussion with filmmakers and special guests: Civil Rights activist Lawrence Guyot and NBC4 News reporter Tom Sherwood, moderated by NPR news analyst Juan Williams. SILVERDOCS supports the diverse voices and free expression of independent storytellers and fosters the power of documentary to enhance our understanding of the world. SILVERDOCS takes place at the AFI Silver Theatre in Silver Spring. Tickets are available online.
