The Kinsey Collection

Bernard and Shirley Kinsey were married for forty years and in that time not only did they amass a lifetime of fond memories, they also amassed one of the finest collections of artwork and artifacts that chronicle the African American experience. Their robust collection of items spans 400 years of history and through May 2011 nearly 100 pieces including books, sculptures and paintings will be on view in The Kinsey Collection — a new exhibition organized by the National Museum of African American History and Culture. The exhibition will be on display in NMAAHC’s gallery at the National Museum of American History.
